All-Epiphyseal ACL Reconstruction Techniques

We recommend all-epiphyseal ACL reconstruction techniques (Table 14.1) for immature athletes with more than 3 years of growth remaining. The advantage of an epiphyseal ACL reconstruction is that it restores the anatomic foot print of the ACL without crossing the physeal plate [1, 14, 15]. In addition, it restores the biomechanics of the knee joint decreasing the posterior joint contact stress relative to the ACL-deficient knee [16–18].Table 14.1All-epiphyseal ACL reconstruction
